Preparing for Your Appointment
Shower prior to your appointment, as you cannot get your lashes wet for 24hrs after your appointment allowing the adhesive to fully dry. Also make sure that all eyelash and eye make-up is removed with an oil-free product prior to arrival. If applicable, contact lenses need to be removed prior to your appointment. If an eyelash perm was recently performed, you will need to wait 4-6 weeks until scheduling your appointment. It would be preferred to set aside at least 2 hours to ensure a full application of lashes.
Note: For blonde/fair lashes it is advised getting a lash tint to your natural eyelashes. This is a semi-permanent dye specifically used to darken the natural lashes, having a lash tint will make for a seemingly noticeable blend and depth to with your lash extensions.
Eyelash Extension After-Care
After getting your extensions, there are a list of things that need to be taken into careful consideration. If these things are not adhered, it could cause irritation. As long as you abide by the following instructions and requirements you should not run into any issues.
Avoid getting your lashes wet for 24 hours after application allowing the adhesive bond to fully dry.
Use only OIL –FREE products on and around the eyelashes(including make-up remover, mascara and eyeliner). *We like either face envy cleanser or Image Ormedic cleanser.
Use special care around the eye area applying gentle and light pressure when washing or drying the face.
Avoid touching your lashes, picking, pulling or rubbing your lashes can potentially damage not only your lash extensions, but your natural lashes as well.
Avoid extensive exercise the day of application.
Avoid saunas and steam rooms 48 hours after application. The heat will cause the bond to weaken.
Avoid extreme variations of heat, humidity, and extremely cold weather.
Do not perm or curl your extensions, this would damage your extensions and natural eyelashes.
Use your mascara wand to brush out and tame your lash extensions.
Tip: Use a blow dryer on “cool” to
fan out your lashes into place keeping the blow dryer arms-length from the face.
Knowing the phases of the hair growth cycle will give you a better understanding of lash refills. There are three phases: Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen.
Growth Phase. Hair is synthesized and can last anywhere from 30-45 days, 40% of the upper lashes and 40% of the lower lashes are in the anagen phase at any given time.
Transitional phase. The hair follicle is separated from the dermal papilla(Base of the hair follicle) and shrinks to 1/3 of its anagen size. This is the shortest phase, lasting anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
Resting phase. The dermal papilla is now separated from the hair follicle and attached only by a thin cord of epidermal cells. After childbirth, stress or illness can cause an increase in the number of telogen hairs. This phase can last anywhere from 3-4 months
